In 1833, the industrial origins Calabrian Vincenzo Florio in Marsala opened his winery, along with Raffaele Barbaro. In a few decades Florio came to the plant to produce 500 thousand hectoliters of Marsala, employing a workforce of over three hundred units and paying particular attention to production quality. Not by chance, the Florio years were exclusive suppliers of the House were awarded gold medals in agricultural exhibitions in Vienna, Dublin, Florence and Paris.

Senator Vincent succeeded in 1868 the son Ignatius thirties who consolidated the family wealth by buying in 1874 all Egadi (with houses, traps and plantations) and promoting humanitarian and philanthropic initiatives. His heirs, Vincenzo and Ignatius, Jr., gave continuity to the family tradition with ups and downs, until a slow decline that began in the twenties, brought by the Cinzano company acquisition.
In 1998 I. L.L.V.A. Saronno has acquired full control of shares in SAVI Florio, of which it already held 50%.
In recent years, renovations have restored to its former glory of the establishment of the local waterfront.
